Bosque’s trophy hunting
Bosque County has produced a number of professional and collegiate athletes, and nowadays those same fertile bottomlands and limestone hills are turning out some of the state’s best trophy deer.
Buddy Wilson got a full-strength dose of deer-hunting action last weekend during an afternoon hunt at Parsons Whitetail Ranch in Valley Mills, as he tagged and bagged a 16-point, 220-inch whitetail buck while hunting with ranch owner and guide Stuart Parsons Jr.
While deer hunters are facing more challenging hunting conditions due to an abundance of food and water availability, the payoff for those hunters locating prey are big. Central Texas deer, on average, have a bigger body mass and better than usual antlers this year.
